The Brazen Heads are a Celtic rock band from Phoenix Arizona with a bawdy sort of The Pogues-meets – Christy Moore – meets – Horslips – meets – Flogging Molly style; performing an eclectic variety of high energy music from all over the Celtic Isles. The Heads will either get the crowd going or get kicked out trying! The band’s sound is a modern, acoustic, backbeat driven, fiddle driven, Celtic rock flavor with pumping rhythms, tight vocal harmonies and a few dirty jokes. It can be sweet and pop like at some times and funny at other times but it can also be a very driving, punchy, sound, that borrows from hard rock forms. Songwriting is drawn from traditional Irish, modern rock, hard rock rockabilly, classical and fusion influences. Led by Dubliner Liam Mackey, The Brazen Heads are a raucous, bawdy, fun-loving band that kicks out high energy "Celtic mayhem." Featuring their own brand of traditional and Celtic rock styled tunes on their newest release, “Curse of the Hag,” they’ve been credited with setting the bar of excellence on the Arizona Irish music scene. Most often described as a cross between the cheeky fun of the Bare Naked Ladies and the roguish impact of The Pogues, their ability to connect with audiences through humor, politics, and high impact musical abandon puts them in very high demand. While based in Boston in the ‘90s, Liam Mackey and the band were featured in the Irish Language Film "Out of Ireland," which highlighted Irish immigrants living and working in the USA. Boston Mayor Tom Menino also chose the band as the featured Irish act for multiple political fundraisers, which included events in New York and Washington, D.C. for the Kennedy family and the F.B.I. As if that wasn’t enough, the band managed to keep busy when not touring by holding down a three-year residency in the famous Black Rose Pub in Boston, entertaining four to five day/nights a week to standing-room-only audiences. Currently based out of Arizona, the line-up of guitar, bass, drums, fiddle, keyboards, Irish whistles, accordion, saxophone and flutes has no shortage of regional work. They are playing 8-12 dates a month without extensive travel, and since releasing their newest CD “Who's Yer Paddy,” as well as self-producing two full-length music videos, they are now accepting dates in Chicago, Boston, Florida and Ireland this year.
