Teba is a Reggae artist based in Cape Town, who's music career grew from roots in community theatre. Born and bred in Gugulethu (a township in Cape Town), he got toasted and buttered in Johannesburg. He started recording in 1996 with a seminal kwaito group called Skeem. The group won a SAMA (SA Grammy) award. He relocated back to the Cape in 2003 and relaunched his solo career on the African Dope Soundsystem collaboration album on African Dope Records, alongside artists like Black Dillinger, Zoro, Chronic Clan, Crosby , JJ, Jessey Don, Red Lion, Juan Thyme and DJ Dope. He later worked and performed alongside Godessa and recorded with the crew members at High Voltage Entertainment. In 2004 he released his Soul / Afro /Reggae / Dancehall debut album 20-5-2-1 Manifesto thanks to High Voltage Entertainment. Since the release he has performed regularly in Europe at various festivals which include Wurzburg Afrika Festival 2005 and Rototom Sunsplash 2006 alongside artists like Gentleman, Queen Omega, Rita Marley and Julian Marley, Capleton, Luciano, Morgan Heritage, Toots, Andrew Tosh, Third World, Alpha Blondi, Tiken Jah, Groundation, Gladiators, Burning Spear; just to mention a few. Living up to his moniker “the Original Social Worker”, he continues to engage with community and youth projects to increase awareness about tings and tings...using music, poetry, theatre and Afrikan & township dance as mediums in his workshops.
