From the English-Scottish Borders, Tarras provide a unique blend of the Gaelic and British folk tradition subtly fused with a range of genres: in the early days the blues and classical; and now to great effect, a new progressive feel. Since two widely acclaimed albums: Rising (1999) and Walking down Mainstreet (2001); the band has been reformed. Ben Murray [citation needed] (Vocals, Piano, Accordion, Guitar), has drawn together the truly accomplished original members, Rob Armstrong (Cittern, Gittern, 12 String Acoustic & Vocals) and Lou Peacock (Violin, Viola) with the very cream of the Borders’ up and coming talented musicians. Liam Hiattt (Drums) and Michael Woodward (Bass, Guitar, Mandolin) form a tight, energetic, integrated rhythm section that moves the band firmly forward. Rory Connor (Guitar, Vocals) provides the missing piece of the jigsaw that realises the long awaited dream of the Tarras renaissance. The new album, Warn the Waters, following a limited release, is currently available to purchase at live gigs only. As a live act, at least 2 years in the remaking, Tarras exceed all hopes and expectations, bringing added warmth, energy and enthusiasm to their distinctive original material and hallmark finely crafted arrangements. General release of the new album is currently scheduled for June 2012. http://www.last.fm/listen/artist/Tarras/similarartists Try Tarras Radio http://uk.myspace.com/tarrasmusicofficial For streaming of fours tracks off Warn the Waters http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Tarras/178858172167588 Tarras on Facebook Read more on Last.fm.
