Tallest Trees

There was a tree. It was taller than all of the others. It could see a very long way. The other trees were often jealous of what it could see. Still, the tree would tell them of the clouds it saw, of the birds in flight, of the city way off in the distance on the ridge. One day a bird came to rest in the tall tree's branches. The bird said the city was growing, that one day it would swallow the forest and the tallest tree as well. This frightened the tall tree so it pulled itself up from the ground and began walking toward the city. The bird, impressed by this action, decided to build its nest. Now they travel together spreading their sounds, leaving a muddy trail behind the tree's roots. Read more on Last.fm.
