Sun Kin is the celestial Americana pop group of Kabir Kumar, an Oakland, California resident whose family never really settled anywhere while he grew up, resulting in wide-eyed, hopeful songs with a global influence. They’ve been described as sounding like “a depraved The Shins." Founded in 2011 in Berkeley, California, the band released their first album Good Feels in 2012, a psychedelic folk record with allusions to The Beatles, Animal Collective, and Elliott Smith. They then took a hiatus, as founding member and lead guitarist Patrick James took leave for financial reasons. On January 1st, 2016, the band, now consisting of Kumar and a host of guest musicians (including a guest spot from noted New York City producer Exitpost), released their sophomore album Moon For Days, a 10-song cycle studying openness of mind and heart in the era of neoliberal clickbait. In the summer of 2017, Sun Kin released two singles: Bijak and Under Standing Waves, the latter of which was chosen to be part of Spotify's Fresh Finds -- Six Strings Playlist. Read more on Last.fm.
