Melanoid is the solo project of Los Angeles based singer/songwriter John Hanson. He began playing guitar at age 12, and has continued to hone his performing and songwriting skills over the last 14 years. In John’s songwriting style, the music often comes first, supported by lyrics drawn from life experiences. He composes on the guitar and piano, inspired by classical music, the Beatles and other 60’s era artists, as well as bands like Radiohead and Pink Floyd. John’s current band, Melanoid, Released their debut album “Asleep in the Wake,” on January 20, 2009. The album is a dark, haunting story told in 14 tracks, featuring the unforgettable “Right.” John also produced the album, which showcases his gift for harmony and rich, layered production. One of the tracks from the upcoming album, “Roam,” was originally recorded as part of a score for the movie “While in Mexico” (2005 release). Melanoid was a Groupee.com “Buzz Band” in September 2008.
