DREAM Records recording artists, Sumerlin, strives to stand apart by blending the importance in being both culturally relevant and spiritually significant. Music is the one thing we all can come together with and the band's primary focus is to reach the hearts of every listener through song. Blending rock roots with smooth melodies and pop appeal the band is set to reach a wide range of musical enthusiasts. Sumerlin’s successful EP Motives included rock standout tracks ‘The Fallback’ and ‘Just a Dream’ which collectively spent nearly 40 weeks on the Billboard Chart in 2013. Sumerlin’s debut into the radio charts was with ‘Just a Dream’ gaining top 15 success. ‘The Fallback’ followed up and landed Sumerlin at number 2 on the Billboard Rock Chart. 2014 brings Sumerlin’s full-length debut, Runaways, on DREAM Records/Capitol Christian. Sumerlin describes Runaways as “a record about knowing what you're running from and what you're running towards. The songs are all about how you can sink so deep into something that it completely consumes you. The only way out is to run. Run away from what holds you back and breaks you. Run towards what rebuilds and renews you. These songs speak from our own hearts, our own personal experiences as well as experiences we've seen in the lives of friends and family. Running away is not always an act of rebellion - if you put God on the side you're running towards - it is by no means a cowardly or rebellious act. Our mission is to be relative and relatable to all of our listeners. You're better than what holds you back. We are the RUNAWAYS." Sumerlin's passion for music has always been at the forefront of what they do. Hailing from Wilmington, NC, the band has extensively toured over the last few years and is gearing up for another busy year supporting Runaways. Runaways was produced and mixed by John Harrell (Sent By Ravens, Divided By Friday, Set It Off) and mastered by Brad Blackwood (Maroon 5, Anberlin, POD). The songs on Runaways are polished and bold with driving guitars, meaningful, hope-filled lyrics and infectious melodies. Runaways provides fans with the same power as their previous releases with added depth that is evident in such tracks as ‘You Always Were.’ The depth of Runaways continues on both of the lead singles ’Voices’ and ’Breaking Out.’ “Suicide prevention and awareness has always been a huge part of my personal ministry,” DiGiovanni continues, “I have been personally impacted by this with someone very close to me and ‘Voices’ was written to be an anthem to speaking out and letting people know that their voice can be heard and that there is always love.” Read more on Last.fm.
