Suade (yes, with an 'a') is an a cappella 'vocal band' based in Melbourne, Australia. Brothers Chris and Loz Blain cut their singing teeth in the Australian Boys' Choir as youngsters, Countertenor Ian Nisbet, Bass Roy Osman and newest member Rob Latham started out in music theatre. Ex-members include Sam Qualtrough. The group is known for an irreverant, rowdy and occasionally foul-mouthed approach to live performance, and has been referred to as "the 'Tap Dogs' of a cappella" due to their Aussie character and workmanlike image. The group's first record "All Singing, No Dancing" contains a humourous re-take on Billy Joel's "For the Longest Time," plus other covers including Shai's "If I Ever Fall in Love," Van Morrison's "Moondance," and Chris Isaac's "Wicked Game." A subsequent E.P. was released to promote Suade's first original song, "I'm Giving You a Cuddle for Christmas" - three cover songs were also included, notably a popular version of "California Dreaming." A new album is in the works and due for release early 2009. It will contain mainly original material, and the title may be 'Singin' in Our Underpants,' a reference to the group's usual live curtain-closer.
