Sicotropico is composed by the brothers Antonio (vocals, bass) and Omar Sanchez Viana (vocals, guitar) and Marlon Marañón (Drums). They are Colombian musicians bringing a very unusual, honest and innovative proposal, only playing their songs with bass, electric guitar and drums. That’s their main strength as a power trio band. Sicotropico means “tropic soul or spirit”, is about the vision they have on music and influenced by their origins, a place close to the Caribbean ocean and Magdalena River, where both meet together becoming bigger and inspiring. After 11 years on stage, there is no doubt that Sicotropico has an important place in Colombia music scene. Four times at “Rock al Parque” (Rock at the Park Music Festival), achieving a National Prize for Best Song Composition and Best Rock Band at Shock Awards. Trough their career, they have collaborated with Ivan Benavidez (Colombian producer who has worked with Carlos Vives and Sidestepper) and Bernardo Ossa (Latin Grammy Awards). They have carried out music for films: “Juana Tiene el Pelo de Oro” (directed by Pacho Bottía) and “Para Bailar se necesitan 2” a shortfilm filmed in Barcelona and showed at Cannes 2008 Short film Showcase. Some other achieves: openers at Alanis Morrisete concert in Bogotá, the World Youth Festival in Panamá and the film “Paraiso Travel” directed by Simon Brand. They also have carried out “music workshops” along the Bogotá Public Libraries Net. Nowadays, they are planning a national tour of concerts, accompanied by mass media interviews and pressing.
