Shyamal Mitra was Bengal's one of he most famous singers in the 1950s to 70s. Along with Hemanta Mukherjee and Manna Dey he was the most notable snger of that period. With a good baritone his voice reflected a range of emotions. Besides he also had fair amount of success as a music director. Life Shyamal Mitra's birthday is on 14th jan 1928.He was born in Naihati, a city near Kolkata. He joined IPTA in 1945–46 and came in touch with Salil Chowdhury. In 1948 he had differences with his father regarding music and came to Kolkata in search of a career.
