Hailing from County Derry, Ireland, alt-rockers Scheer comprised Audrey Gallagher (vocals), Neal Calderwood (lead guitar), Paddy Leyden (rhythm guitar), Peter Fleming (bass) and Joe Bates (drums). Formed in the early '90s, they issued their first two singles on Dublin label Son, before signing to 4AD and releasing the Schism EP in October 1995. Audrey’s vocals provided a striking counterpoint to her bandmates metallic wall-of-sound, Select magazine describing her as "a cross between Shirley Manson, Björk and some evil spirits". The quintet's debut album Infliction was released in May 1996, after which they toured America with labelmates Lush and Mojave 3. A second, limited edition Scheer album, 2000's ...And Finally, came out after the band had split up on their own Schism Records imprint. In the early 2000s, Audrey and Neal briefly worked on a project called Lima. They have now launched a project called aureus. Read more on Last.fm.
