With the release of their 3rd album, "AUTOPSY OF AN AQUARIUS" , SYX continues their legacy with their unique blend of hardcore rock, metalcore, slamming grooves, and passionate vocals. Formed in the beautiful City of Roses (Portland, OR) in the fall of 2000, SYX have proven themselves as one of the leading acts to come from the area. Originally focusing on a sound born more out of punk and metal, the group began their experimental techniques with their first album "UNDERNEATH THE SURFACE," which demonstrated their natural affinity for creating a brutal yet heartfelt sound that has pleased fans at their live shows around the northwest. "A COLD BREATH OF WHAT IT TAKES" futher pushed the envelope with a greater focus on melodies and vocal dynamics that comes across brilliantly in songs like NALU, A Letter To Divide, and Amendments To A Sick Art. After A few line up changes and 2 years of work on and off the road, SYX brings forth "AUTOPSY OF AN AQUARIUS." A.o.A. hopes to be the new direction of heavy music, creating a genre all of it's own, only to be called OR-Core. With a style that could only come from the Northwest, Oregon Core is born. New drummer Scott Walker intensifies the line-up with blistering double bass and a fresh outlook on traditional metal drumming, pushing SYX to the breaking edge of their extremes. Additional guitarist, Sean Simons, was added to further the melodic capabilities of the band, as well as the severe brutality of their sound. With an intense live show, SYX have earned the opening slot for many national acts such as: Slipknot, Slayer, Machine Head, It Dies Today, Hatebreed, Remembering Never, God Forbid, Super Joint Ritual, American Head Charge, and many more. This isn't your older brother's metal. SYX have continued to develop their unique style and fresh take on modern metal. Looking to break away from the Nu-Metal genre, but not completely abandoning their roots, SYX takes a more direct approach to their music; refining their skills as musicians and further developing their style. "We have taken all the things we feel we did best on our previous record and really capitalized on them. You can expect a heavier sound with a lot more melody at the same time. We wanted to keep the energy level high, without sacrificing our melody." (Jasyn Warren guitarist of SYX) Epic, Aggressive, Heartfelt, Original... this is SYX. Read more on Last.fm.
