Sebastian Abraham Bach is 23 years old and bald. He started going bald when he was 14 and now he is extremely bald. He started high school at age 12 and attended three different high schools before graduating at age 15. On his last day of high school, he wore a dress. At the time, he still had quite a bit of hair on his head. However, he was a 15 year-old senior at a new high school who was named Sebastian Bach and was wearing a dress. How could the countless peers who ignored him then have known that 8 years later he would have become the indie rock icon he isn't today? They couldn't have. And they were right. S.A. Bach's debut album is called "Long Distance Relationship." It was conceived during the three years he took off following graduation while he mooched off his parents, watched TV, and wrote many songs about the girls who continued to ignore him. While the tracklist changed countless times even before the album was finally recorded (as fresh rejections perpetually inspired new love songs), the concept has remained largely intact. The album is subtitled "A self-absorbed collection of unrequited love songs," and each of its 12 tracks is basically a deeply personal, specific, strange, sad love song, imbued with his distinctively self-deprecating sense of humor, which the author of this bio has painstakingly recreated. Six girls from real life are represented. See if you can pick them out. Maybe one of them broke your heart too! Stylistically this music could be called "alternative-folk-pop," "indie-singer / songwriter-rock," or mix and match, or just pick three other genre definitions that don't go together and connect them with hyphens. Other bands & artists S.A. Bach hopes his music might occasionally sound like for a second are: Rilo Kiley/Jenny Lewis, Neutral Milk Hotel, Frank Black (+/- The Catholics), Weezer, Counting Crows, Elliott Smith, Leonard Cohen, Neko Case, Pumpkins, Beatles, R.E.M., Radiohead. His previous releases are: a self-titled EP much in the same vein as the full-length (2006), and another full-length called "Respect Your Youngers" released under the moniker The Bachs, an indie-pop-rock project fronted by Sebastian and sister Allie (2005). Inspired by his immense backlog of songs as well as his personal neuroses & insecurities, Sebastian will be releasing a new track via his website & MySpace page every single day from January 1st through December 31st, 2008. The 366 songs will make up a massive 20-or-so-disc-album called "Leap Year." S.A. Bach plays shows regularly in and around his native Los Angeles (usually with a full backing band) and elsewhere in the U.S. (usually solo). PLEASE NOTE: Sebastian would like you to know that his publicity photo cost him nearly $500, and he fully intends to make the most of it. Read more on Last.fm.
