Robin Zander (born January 23, 1953) is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Cheap Trick. Zander had been offered the lead singing job for the band by Bun E. Carlos, but was under contract with Wisconsin Dells at the time. When the contract expired, Zander joined the band as lead singer. In 1983, Zander wrote his first solo writing contribution with "I Can't Take It" (I Can't Take It), and also performed a solo concert. Zander released a self-titled album in 1993 that did not chart well. In recent years, he has become Cheap Trick's main lyricist. One current trademark of Cheap Trick concerts is during "The Flame" (The Flame). Zander holds an extremely long note ("I will be the flame-"), which always gets a loud reaction from the audience. The song is usually introduced by guitarist Rick Nielsen calling Zander his "favorite lead singer in the whole wide world". Robin Zander is often called "the man of a thousand voices". On June 6, 2006, Cheap Trick released their new studio album "Rockford" (Rockford) on Cheap Trick Unlimited/Big3 Records. The first single from the album is "Perfect Stranger" (Perfect Stranger) (produced by Linda Perry and co-written by Cheap Trick and Perry). Read more on Last.fm.
