Rik Sentenza

Rik Sentenza, aka Riccardo Prestianni, was born in Catania at the end of the year 1968. From an early age he had little idea regarding his future, but he did have one certainty, later to be proved correct: music would never abandon him! His musical journey began during his pre-adolescent years with the study of the piano and the world of seven notes for almost five years, a period in which he formed his interest towards musical groups and the idea of forming his own. His first experience in musical groups began with “cover bands” with whom he played through ups and downs until he made another important discovery: playing “other people’s” music no longer satisfied or stimulated him. One evening, in an unexpected and difficult situation, alone in his car, listening to ‘Radio Montecarlo Night’, a song came to mind....written on the spot....crap! He wrote another song...crap again; but the seed was sown and was growing like the wave of a tsunami, forcing him to abandon everything (cover bands) and to follow his instincts. In the meantime Rik met Massimo Ferlito, a friend from Catania with a small recording studio, from here he began to give shape to his musical project with the production of “Il Fegato” (the Liver) with which he participated at the Festival of Castrocaro in 2001 and reached the semifinal. At the same time, together with Massimo, he began to write and arrange tracks for various Catanese artists, participating in numerous festivals but without achieving results worthy of such a name. In the same year Riccardo moved to Milan were he made contact with a well-known independent label with whom he participated both as writer and as arranger for the artist Adreani at Sanremo Rock. Still in the same year he met the talented singer/songwriter Monica Shannon with whom he collaborated and set up, with the help of of a Milanese recording studio, the project “Diadema” with which he particiapted in the musical events “Inedito per Maria” and “Emergenza Rock”, obtaining flattering results, but only on the level of personal satisfaction. At this point, shelved forever the idea of ‘festivals’, proved to serve only for the gain of more or less important characters in the motley world of music, Rik chose to be independent: the only realistic way forward in a country like Italy. Rik is currently living in the province of Varese where, apart from his own project, he is involved in the production of Monica Shannon’s soon to be released first digital production. On MySpace Rik has also met another valid artist, Lyo, and has managed the production of the two tracks which Lyo currently has online. Rik is not averse to the idea of collaborating with ‘indie’ labels whose ideas are compatible with his own and who, above all, nurture a great love for music which comes from the heart. http://www.imisound.com/riksentenza.htm Read more on Last.fm.
