"Random Soul" is the brainchild of 2 of Sydney's rising dj talents, Yogi and Husky. The duo was formed in the summer of 2005 with the hopes of bringing a fresh and unique sound to dance floors across the world. ................................................................................................................ With elements of soul, jazz and funk the guys are trying to bring an accessible yet underground flavour to their productions and live show in the medium of house music ................................................................................................................ The duo has had signed their first release to none other than Jay-J of Moulton Studio's San Francisco notoriety. Jay-j has signed the main room funk track "Key to Soul" to be the follow up release to the launch of his new label Shifted Music, out of NYC. ................................................................................................................ Following the signing to Jay-j's label, Random Soul came to the attention of house music stalwart Miguel Migs. He has signed a number of their tracks to his internationally popular U.S. based label, Salted Music. The boys EP reached number 1 on traxsource and has already been on high rotation with the worlds largest house dj’s, including dj Heather, Grant Nelson, Richard Earnshaw, Joshua Heath and Miguel Migs himself. ................................................................................................................ Showing no signs of slowing down, Random Soul recently collaborated with another on point producer, Vincent Kwok. Together, the 3 wrote the soulful gem "music is my life', which has been snapped up by Jay-J for his NY based label Shifted Music ................................................................................................................ Proving their popularity overseas they have recently embarked on another relationship with Minneapolis based house music label Celebrity Records. Run by Bryan Gerrard and David Drone, the label represents many other big names in house music, including, Chuck Love, Andy Caldwell, Jay-j and the gentlemen themselves. Random Soul are proud to be signing 2 ep's with the label, again supporting their versatility as producers, as they offer 4 very different tracks across these 2 eps. ................................................................................................................ The start to 2007 was a massive venture for the dj/producers as they embarked on their first international tour, calling at Holywood's popular spot "tokio", which had them performing alongside veterans Andy Caldwell and Julius Papp. Their next stop saw the lads in New York City spending their time with Jay-j in his studio, mixing down and mastering their upcoming release "Key to Soul". Needless to say , it was an invaluable and once in a lifetime experience to work alongside the man himself. Following New York was their next gig at the 2007 Miami Winter Music Conference, for Jay-j's "Jay-j and friends party". Random Soul played alongside a massive list of A grade house legends, including Mark Grant, Albert Cabrera, Scott Wozniak, Jamie Lewis, Ron Carroll, Sarah Main and of course Jay-j. ................................................................................................................ Upon return to Australia, Random Soul is becoming a force to be reconed with as their production basket keeps growing. It currently includes 16 original works and a remix’s for Ministry of Sound Australia. Random Soul has also been approached by numerous labels to complete remix work for them, including Justin Michael for Hermosa records................................................................................................................. 2008 is promsing to be an even bigger year for the duo as they embark on another US tour in March and also mix and compile the next “Beach House” cd for Hed Kandi Australia. ………………………………………………………………………………………………………… The boys are definitely being recognised as more than just a back-to-back dj set and are well under way in the live/dj realm. Incorporating live vocals and keyboards into their performance and keeping the playlist as eclectic as their productions, they will be sure to keep that dance floor moving. ................................................................................................................
