Morphing, changing, exploring, discovering, endeavoring on adventures with sticks on a road to who knows where.... Music has been Pamela Mortensen's playground since she was six years old—first with the organ, then piano, voice and digital synthesis. In 2005, she picked up a didgeridoo and began to play. Since then, she's never looked back. What started out as an experiment has turned out to be a journey that has gotten deeper and deeper for Mortensen who now performs regularly as well as making didgeridoos. Currently residing in Seattle, Washington, Mortensen has blossomed into an artist in her own right diving deeper into what it means to play didgeridoo. It's been a very personal journey and it shows in her music which reflects her rich imagination. Her "song stories" as she calls them weave a variety of emotions together that range from devotion to struggle to humor. Using the didgeridoo as an organic synthesizer, she adds ambiance, the inspiration of Middle Eastern and urban rhythms and an occasional shaker to the mix. The result is a tasty treat that often delves into cross rhythms, odd time signatures and inner and outer spaces. In addition to performing, she also has been presenting didgeridoo workshops and helping to establish more of a presence for the didgeridoo in the Northwest United States through outreach.
