Unrestrained by the formulas that define modern music, Oculesics plunges into the lush textures of metric and melodic interplay, often abandoning the expected in favor of curiously deviant compositions that are at once stunning and mesmerizing. Diverging lines and discordant sections combine to create a bizarre labyrinth that is, at times exuberant, at others pensive, and, as a whole, dizzyingly distinct. In their second full length release, Watching Machine, Oculesics questions and confronts the sonic nuances and intricacies of math rock as a genre, further cementing their reputation of creating "complex music that isn't twinkly," (Dan Bogosian, Under the Gun), and evolving their talent for devising songs that intrigue your ears and gnaw at the edge of your being.
