North Til Dawn is an American hard rock band from Houston, Texas, and was formed in February of 2013. The band consists of vocalist Blake McCulloch, guitarists Zack Jones and Curt Smith, bassist Shawn Bartlett and drummer Matt Smith. A compass rose, often featuring a globe and sunrise, symbolically represents the band’s name. North TIl Dawn EP and Separate (2013) Their self-titled EP was recorded in March of 2013 at Digital Services Recording Studio in Houston, Texas, who have been host to many Grammy winning artists such as Destiny’s Child, Rolling Stones, Frank Zappa, Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, and Chamillionaire. In April of 2013 the band independently released a five song EP and music video for the EP’s single, Separate. Distributed digitally worldwide, the EP became a “Best Seller” on Bandcamp.com during the week of its release. In a music review, Examiner.com had this to say of the EP, “It's got everything real rock fans could want, from the riffs to the drums to the vocals. Make no mistake, North Til Dawn is a name that you will all know, sooner rather than later.” Their music video for the song Separate was board-selected by Vevo (partnered with YouTube) and featured in a worldwide playlist along with rock acts Baroness, Pop Evil, Volbeat and Three Days Grace for the month of August. The video earned more than 130K views across the band’s channels in less than three days, and went on to be hosted by YouTube channel BryanStars. Label Roadrunner Records also mentions North Til Dawn in a tweet along with the video for Separate. In November, 2013, the band became a featured artist for Houston’s local rock radio station 94.5 Texas Buzz, earning a headlining spot at a live event hosted by the station, broadcast mention and radio play of the song Separate. Previously, the band participated in a Battle of the Bands as a handpicked artist hosted by the station’s Rod Ryan show. North Til Dawn has collected the attention of not only independent and major labels, but also management companies, producers and other industry professionals. Offers considered, including an approach by industry legend, producer and Linkin Park A&R Jeff Blue, the band has remained resolute in maintaining self-sufficiency for the time being. The End Is Here (Current) January 1st 2014 marked the release of their newest single, The End Is Here, distributed digitally. The single features new art, debuting the added sunrise to the existing compass rose and globe. In February the band debuted their second music video in a year, for “The End Is Here”. The band continues to expand upon their previous success through social content updates, local performances, and personal fan interaction, earning over 10,000 likes on Facebook.
