Japan (1995 - 2009) Naht was formed in April 1995 by SEIKI, ex-member of VOLUME DEALERS. The band went through some member changes for positive reasons and the present lineup is Seiki (guitars, vocal), Takahiro (drums) and Tsuyoshi (bass). They are Japanese emo scene along with the comrade bands like eastern youth and bloodthirsty butchers and have been quite an influence to both following bands and audience in Japan. With aggressive and sometimes tricky beats, dissonant guitar sounds and dramatic melodies combined, they sure are the world-class band in the alternative scene after FUGAZI and DRIVE LIKE JEHU. In October 1996, they were an opener for FUGAZI’s Japan tour. In November, they released 6 songs EP, “downt”. They toured Japan with 3 Discord’s bands, BLUETIP, SWEETBELLY FREAKDOWN and KEROSENE 454. After releasing a few EPs and compilations, they released their first album “Narrow Ways” in July 1999 from Time Bomb Records. In November 1999, they toured Japan with BURNING AIRLINES. The band was joined by a violin player around this time and in 2000, they released their second album “the spelling of my solution” from Toy’s Factory. The album was recorded and produced by J. Robbins in Washington D.C.. They supported JETS TO BRAZIL and once again BURNING AIRLINES for their Japan tour in 2001 and built friendship based on mutual respects among the bands. In return, BURNING AIRLINES supported NAHT in their northern American tour. NAHT performed with such brilliant bands like DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE, HEY MERCEDES, NEW END ORIGINAL and THE PROM. In 2002, they suddenly opted for a hiatus after releasing a split CD with MOGA THE 5YEN, “A Strange Stroke of Fate”. After 2 and half years, Seiki, Takahiro and Tsuyoshi assembled again as a reconstituted three-piece and ambitiously started seeking their own sound. In March 2006, they released a single “ARTICULATION” and in June 2007, third album “In The Beta City” for the first time in 6 years. Adopting New Wave like synthesizers and tribal percussions, the band surprisingly and successfully presented the total new phase they have obtained. They also re-mastered and re-released their first album which brought an huge impact on the scene back then and was long out of stock as “Narrow Ways -Turned Pages”, including bonus live footages. They broke up on 2009. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
