Moonflowers

The "Legendary" Moonflowers were the funkiest bunch of hippies ever to walk planet earth and formed in Bristol, England, UK in the late 1980's (1987 to be exact). Mixing punk, funk, reggae, rock, jazz, disco and psychedelia they injected a heavy does of fun into their music and gave Bristol a much needed kick up the behind after years of dull indie strumming had put the populace into a stupor. They started a record label "Pop God" and were involved in a very influential club night in the early 90's called "The Dig in" which was held on The Thekla - a boat in Bristol docks. Tunes such as "Get Higher", "Tighten Up" a cover of Archie Bell and the Drells, "Housework", "Groovepower" and "Warshag" a protest against the first Gulf War saw them regularly grace the indie charts and play at Festivals such as Glastonbury. One festival appearance that has gone down in Bristol folklore saw them headline the Ashton Court Festival wearing little more than body paint and big smiles. They made records until 1997 when the members went their separate ways.
