Modern Machines

Modern Machines is the name of more than one artist: 1) punk band 2) remixer 1) The first incarnation of the Milwaukee, WI-based Modern Machines was a punk band from Washington County called the Shrubbers. The Shrubbers broke up in 2000, While head Shrubber Nato Disgusting was writing songs with Ben Oihawk, who played bass for the original Shrubbers lineup years before. These songs had a poppier bent than Nato's Shrubbers tunes, and the two decided to start the Modern Machines. They brought in in the Shrubbers rhythm section of Danny K and Jon Hands-on to complete the group. They played their first show in January 2001, and their debut, Thwap!, came out in 2003 on New Disorder Records. Though Ben left the group in early 2005 to join the Peace Corps, the band still managed to issue its second EP, Taco Blessing later in the year. After going through a few more guitarists, all named Ben, the Modern Machines released Take It, Somebody in 2006 on Dirtnap as a three-piece group. Eventually Hands-On decided to quit touring to spend more time at home with Megan Sweatpants, so Nato & Danny Kielbasa moved to Brooklyn and formed The Used Kids with Mikey Erg and Kate from Cheeky.
