Midgårds Söner ("Sons of Midgard") was a Swedish nationalist punk band, along with Ultima Thule one of the more well-known bands from the swedish viking rock and right-wing punk scene. The band was formed in 1993 by Nitton, Robban and Jim, but weren't getting much done until guitarist DP (Pungsvett) and bass player Fabbe joined. DP was the only one with musical experience and would be the main songwriter. They also released their first EP, "Sverige Vikingaland", the same year. The first album "Ny tid" was released in '94. After that, Jim left and was replaced with Sweet who brought a more heavy metal-influenced playing style to the band. With the second album "Nordens kall" ('95) Nitton's lyrics were more nazi influenced than earlier, with among others a song celebrating Skrewdriver and Ian Stuart as well as covers of songs from the movie Romper Stomper. Due to this Ultima Thule didn't want to release the album on their label and it was instead released it on Midgårds Söner's own label. Nitton would later leave the white power scene and Midgårds Söner, writing a book about his life in the scene. With DP on the mic the band's politics would mellow somewhat as Nitton was the main "ideologue" of the band and the one who had driven its political radicalization. After this Robban also left and was replaced by Fredda. A final album, "Fä dör", was released in 1999 after which the band split up. DP would continue with his other band The Jinx, which had existed alongside Midgårds Söner since 1995 (and had previously featured Fabbe as well). Nitton and DP have also played together again in United Colours of Stockholm and Sthlm United. Read more on Last.fm.
