MediaBanda’s name, is in an homage to the memory of keyboardist Jaime Vivanco. , This was the name of the first group where he began to play with Willy Valenzuela (drummer) and Cristián Crisosto (flute & reeds) between 1979 and 1981...in 1984 they formed Fulano with Arlette Jequier (vocals), bassist Jorge Campos and Jaime Vásquez in woodwinds, the main a rock-jazz, fusion, avant-garde, rock in opposition chilean group . During that year they also received “Best Group of the Year” and “Best new Chilean Artist” awards. On January 2005 MediaBanda plays in the 4º International Providencia Jazz Festival, sharing the stage with Paquito D’Rivera and Yellow Jackets. , the opinion of the specialized press was that the group was one of the best numbers in the festival. On April that same year, they won a second FONDART that took them on tour play during October and November to in several cities in Chile (La Serena, Valparaíso, Santiago, Concepción, Temuco, Puerto Montt, and reaching as far as Castro, way down the southern part of Chile). On 2006 MediaBanda continueds giving concerts and showing part of the new material of what will be theirfor a second Cd. and they win a third FONDART, to help them relase their second Cd during May 2007, Today the group is working intensively on their new compositions, as well as preparing for a European Tour that will take place in July and August 2007, which includes with invitations to festivals and concerts in Spain, France, Germany, Holland, Czhechz Republic and Austria.
