Manca Špik (born September 17, 1980) is a Slovenian pop artist. Blessed with a compelling voice and an abundance of talent, Manca Špik is undoubtedly one of the most popular Slovenian artists to emerge in recent times. As a pop singer and a successful artist, she enjoys climbing the stairs to stardom, knowing that her time is now! Since her teenage years, Manca was strongly involved in creating and performing music as a back vocalist for numerous Slovenian artists. In 2005, after countless supporting roles, she teamed up with the multi talented composer and producer Raay, a collaboration which resulted in a series of chart topping singles in the years to come. Manca began her first steps as a solo artist almost four years ago. Her fascinating voice and natural presence were undeniable when she was recognised at one of the most important Slovenian music festivals, at “The Sea&Sun Music Festival” in Portorož. Her debut song “SOLZE Z NEBA” (“Tears From The Sky”), presented at the festival in july 2005, delivered her first moment in the spotlight, while “HIŠICA IZ KART” (“The House of Cards”), her second single, was even stronger breakthrough in her music career. In 2006, Manca once again collaborated with producer Raay, achieving two consecutive hit singles “MARINERO” (“The Sailor”) and “ZVEZALA BI SI KRILA” (“Bounded Wings”) that preceded her third and a winning appearance in the summer of 2007 at “The Sea&Sun Music Festival” with a song “BAILA, BAILA, BAILA”, which proved to be a turning point for her image as a pop singer. In the beginning of 2008, Manca and Raay participated in National selections for Eurovision Song Contest - EMA 2008, the most important Slovenian music festival, organized by the Slovenian National Television. Her first appearance on EMA stage with the song “ŠE VEDNO NEKAJ CUTIM” (“I Still Feel You”) was another success and another step in steadily building Manca’s fan base. Later that year, Manca’s string of hit singles and incredibly successful stage appearances were being recognized by Matjaž and Urša Vlašic, one of Slovenia’s most remarkable music composers, writers and producers. They have joined their forces for outstanding creative collaboration with the desire to set new heights for the Slovenian pop music. In the summer of 2008, Manca’s career reached a new peak of commercial success and publicity. In Matjaž Vlašic’s production, she released a new single “QUE SERA, SERA”. With this hit song, Manca joined festival “Summer Song 2008” and received another award. Numerous Slovenian radio stations have chosen “Que Sera, Sera” to be “The Best Summer Song Of 2008”, which was a solid proof that Manca is slowly but steadily becoming the newborn star of the Slovenian music industry. By the end of 2008, Manca was setting new trends and becoming even more popular by her intense appearances on stages throughout the entire country. Shortly after filling the “Bled Festival Hall” for her third consecutive charity concert, she released a new song “LE DA JE OB TEBI” (“Just To Be With You”), produced once again by Matjaž Vlašic. Manca’s new ballad has already been released around Slovenia with great success, while her first studio album will reach her audience during the summer 2009. In addition to that, Manca and Matjaž are also entering National selections for Eurovision Song Contest - EMA 2009 with a song “ZAIGRAJ MUZIKANT” (“Play Musician”). Manca is going to perform this song in cooperation with a gipsy etno group “Langa”. This unusual but innovative combination of completely different music styles is definitely becoming her biggest challenge so far! After four years of hard work and numerous successful singles, and thanks to her amazing voice and her superb live performances, Manca Špik is being recognised as an artist with “star quality”. Her latest work with Matjaž and Urša Vlašic has created slightly different path in her music, giving her a more mature and profound appearance as a pop artist. Still in the early part of her career, she will continue to blossom musically, creatively setting the pace for the Slovenian modern pop music as well as breaking barriers as she now looks to achieving even greater success at national selections for Eurovision Song Contest 2009.
