MAMALAID RAG (ママレイド ラグ) is a Japanese band that began in Saga Prefecture in 2002. It has had four different members over the years, but currently has only one member, Hirokuni Tanaka (田中拡邦, born May 9 1979). Tanaka writes, sings, plays, engineers, and produces all of MAMALAID RAG's music himself. His main musical influence is the "organic" sounding music of the 1960s and 1970s. He started his first band, CROSSWALK, in high school at the age of 16 and honed his skills playing shows at local and school festivals as well as writing and recording songs in his free time. In addition to MAMALAID RAG, since 2008 he has also run and managed his own record label, ALDENTE ENTERPRISE, on which he has released his last few albums. His newest album, LIVE LIVING, was released in January 2012. He continues to play live shows with guest musicians. Read more on Last.fm.
