MADAME MIM’s sexy latin electro Madame Mim has just released her second album “Electric Kool-Aid” (Lua Music), bringing a punk mix of electro with Latin rock, a dash of electronic cumbia, and a series of new sounds to the dance floor. There was a transformation from the first to the second albums of Mariana Eva, an Argentinean artist who has traveled around, living between Buenos Aires (Argentina), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and San Francisco (CA-USA), and who has now settled in São Paulo (Brazil). With a Major in Dance for the Angel Vianna’s University in Rio de Janeiro, Mariana Eva studied cinema and theater in California where she joined the short movies "Anna" and "The Other Side" among others. In Brazil she was Trip Girl (sensual and arty magazine) and invited editor to the TPM Magazine (a young women’s magazine). She currently stands out for her music-themed podcasts that have been also helping her promote her work. One of them is the podcast "mim arte rock" about new Brazilian bands based on UOL website (www.uol.com.br); another the "Ilha Latina" podcast about Latin music based on O Globo (www.oglobo.com.br), the biggest newspaper of Rio de Janeiro. Mariana Eva’s involvement with music is long-lasted. In Brazil, she was part of a girl punk rock band called Polux, an underground hit during the 90s. Back then the group did over 250 shows, participated in many events and festivals such as ”Abril pro Rock”, ”Humaita Pra Peixe”, ”Motim”, ”Planet Fashion”, “Magazine 02 Neurônio’s party”, and even opened to the German digital hardcore band Atari Teenage Riot. After Mariana’s passage trough punk rock she founded the Mim Project, starting her relationship with electronic music. Since then, Mariana Eva has recorded in the albums: "Brazil, The Women's Voice" released in London, "Lucky Strike Lab Music", and Djavan “Na Pista" both released in Brazil. In 2005 she released her first solo album called "Eu Mim Meu" by the label Lua Music. That album has an experimental pop rock taste, having been defined by critics as “perverted pop". Also involved in the album were many preeminent musicians like Jr Tostoi who had also worked with Lenine, Adriana Calcanhoto and Jards Macalé; Carlos Trilha, who produced Lobão’s album “Canções Dentro da Noite Escura” and is nowadays playing with Marisa Monte; and Rodrigo Campello, who has also produced Fernanda Abreu’s last album “Na Paz”. Nowadays Madame Mim is working with the producer and drummer Vig who has lived in Brazil where he played with Sergio Dias and Gilberto Gil, but recentlly relocated to London where he has already worked with Avril Lavigne, Eminem, and has even worked with the producer Tom Aitkenhead from Bloc Party. In the new Madame Mim project, she felt encouraged by the new electronic Latin Scenario, from bands like Maria Daniela y su Sonido Lasser (México), Que Out (Argentina), Dirty Princess, Vanexxa (Espanha). Mariana Eva started composing in the “do it yourself” style inspired by this new trend. That’s the profile of her new public, the audience of her podcasts, blogs, youtube and myspace family - an audience that craves for more spontaneous and creative music. Besides the gigs, Madame Mim joined many parties as a DJ during her composition period, which has brought her maturity in the dance floor universe. Her sets, full of new Latin song, have been drawing people’s attention to her work as artist. They have also helped to define her new show format, involving only two people on stage. Madame Mim sings, plays guitar, while her guest Superputo plays keyboards, groovebox, other surprises live witch makes each presentation unique and organic.
