Considered by many as one of the hardest working men in the fusion of TRUE SCHOOL HIP HOP and WEST AFRICAN HOME GROWN HIP - LIFE, M3NSA is poised to be London City’s premier indie-soul SINGER, EMCEE and PRODUCER. His music is a unique blend of beats from the genres of Gnarls Barkley, Foreign Exchange, J Dilla, Mos Def and Peven Everret; his lyrics possess refreshingly EFFORTLESS WITTICISM and ‘LAUGH OUT LOUD” quips that are ENTERTAINING and PROVOCATIVE; and he comes from a rich background that has informed his music and inspired his lyrics. M3NSA is the third son of his parents and holds true the popular Ghanaian adage that “afie biara Mensa wo mu,” which literally means every household has a third-born son. His father, Tumi Ebo Ansah, rocked stages as a guitarist of British afro-pop sensation, OSIBISA, and also starred in HERITAGE AFRICA (winner of the outstanding film award at the 1989 London Film Festival) and his mother, the biggest influence on his music, taught him to play the piano when he was just eight years old. His cousin, Joey Ansah has featured in popular movies such as the BOURNE ULTIMATUM and BATMAN BEGINS. M3NSA is also nephew to film director, Kwaw Ansah, who directed HERITAGE AFRICA, and Kofi Ansah, a fashion designer who designed clothes for the royal family wedding in the 1980s. It is no wonder then that M3NSA was influenced by his family’s artistic lineage. He grew up celebrating his roots and found a passion in music. He decided early on to harness his potential and define what he wanted for himself. To this end, he ardently pursued his passion and made his first foray into music by forming The Lifeline Family, a short-lived hip-life band, which released one album. Following the demise of the band, M3NSA discovered a flair for producing great music that was soon recognized by Reggie Rockstone, founder of hip-life, Ghana’s innovative blend of highlife and hip-hop. Rockstone was then working on his fourth album, and quickly enlisted young M3NSA’s talent on two tracks that went on to be critically and commercially acclaimed. Following the success of those songs, M3NSA became the go-to producer for laid back hip-life music and was sought after by the cream of hip-life’s finest. To date, he has worked with Wanlov the Kubolor, producing the big hit Kokonsa, and recorded with VIP, Obrafour, Tic Tac, Tinny, KK Fosu and Batman Samini. However, M3NSA is not just an exceptional producer, but also a promising emcee and singer who has toured with hip-hop legends like the “The Wu-Tang Clan” and “The Roots". This TRIPLE THREAT, as his name suggests, has energized London's indie-soul circuits with underground hits such as Suicide in the Disco. M3NSA’s work has been recognized by the KORA AWARDS, MOBO AWARDS, GHANA MUSIC AWARDS and M-NET'S CHANNEL O. He has also received acclaim from the BBC, which named him one of the TOP 50 GHANAIANS TO WATCH. He has spent the last few years producing and emceeing and is getting ready to release an 11-TRACK DEBUT OPUS entitled THE WEATHER REPORT. Not much is certain in life, but the SMOOTHED OUT GUITAR RIFFS, SENSUAL HIP-HOP BEATS and M3NSA’s DULCET VOCALS are sure to garner the respect of critics, increase his burgeoning fan base and leave listeners yearning for more.
