Los Twang! Marvels The Band Los Twang! Marvels are currently based in Berlin. The founders, the delirious guitarists Alex Antonio (Argentina) and Marisol Yolanda (Chile), launched the band in the far east of Germany in the heart of post-Wall Saxony in 2002. In Leipzig Los Marvels created a scene faithful to the cavernous sound of guitars reverberating at high velocity amid percussion, hot and wild rhythms. They soon found the perfect groove as an instrumental quartet , getting audiences on their feet and raising them to the pitch of ecstasy, hypnotized by the warm, mysterious and brilliant sound they produce. Right from the start they left their own mark in the vast world of rock & roll, Instro and Surf in their different periods. In their search for good music they have managed to combine Latin melodies and rhythms, evergreen classics with their own voices. Besides their original compositions, Los Marvels have a wide range of gems in their repertoire, ranging from South American classics like Bingo Reyna, Los Iracundos, Los Saicos, Los Holy..s, to interpretations of the classical “serious” genre such as the Flight of the Bumblebee or the Sabre Dance and others, and moving on completely to the most raw Rock & Roll reminiscent of Link Wray, Johnny Fortuno, Duane Eddy, Al Caiola, Vince Bell and many others. The musical versatility of the band has no equal, not just for the guitar of Alex that leaves any audience gaping at the high speed and precision of his playing, but also for the skill of each member of Los Marvels on their instrument and for their live performance. Bisfer on drums is a percussion spectacle. The feminine touch in Yolanda’s guitar playing combines with the earth-shaking bass of Tom to trigger genuine musical explosions that Los Marvels lead to a visual climax with choreographies in which they dance in unison with the guitars. They are a band to listen to and to see. People say that Surf music is out of fashion. But Los Marvels have created their own style beyond current fashions. You have to see them live, direct. Videos and photos fall below the real thing. Los Marvels have low-budget sex appeal. Yolanda with her Fender Jaguar and what she does with it is a killer for the hearts of both sexes. Alex is no second fiddle when it comes to getting the girls to move in ecstasy to the sound of his melodies. Bisfer never stops and is the first to make contact with the audience (especially the girls). There are rumours that Tom’s famous Pas de Plié drives some German girls wild. But music is number one for Los Marvels. They know how to appreciate their fans and it is out of respect for them that they keep moving on with their own music and choosing what they like and how they like to play it. Aren’t Los Marvels real heroes struggling for a world of better music? With the voice of their guitars, they combat the “music” packaged in impersonal containers, icy spaces dominated by those media monsters that abound in this chaotic postmodern world. That’s the aim of Los Twang! Marvels. Track record Los Twang! Marvels have toured successfully in Germany and abroad, including Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, Estonia, Lithuania, Italy, Austria, France, and Belgium. They have produced various albums on the road: Guitars in Orbit (Reverb Series-El Toro Records), Prueba de Fuego (Isotonic/El Toro Records), and most recently Jungle of Twang (Kamikaze Records). Besides, there are the less well-known projects they have carried out in the middle of so much activity, such as a 30-minute show in which they received great acclaim for their interpretations of compositions by Kurt Weill at the Kurt Weil Festival in Dessau. Completely different was the tour as backing band for Wrestling Trash Bash in 2007, when they accompanied the fights of wrestlers from the rock & roll mafia of Cologne with aggressive Surf in 15 shows throughout Germany. For June 2009 they are preparing arrangements of pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach to be performed during the famous festival in Leipzig.
