There are at least two artists with the name Loomis. 1. A New Orleans experimental analog recording project (active from 2007 to present) 2. A Milwaukee indie rock group (active from 1992 to 1997) 1. LoOmis, New Orleans, LA 2007-Present stream or download each album for free or with a donation @ http://loomis.bandcamp.com LoOmis is currently an experimental analog recording project from Patrick Bailey. Bailey may be known for his guitar work in New Orleans based instrumental math rock band Smiley With A Knife. LoOmis is described as lo fi mathy indie rock. LoOmis has also been described as Hazewave. Taking influences from such acts as Don Caballero, King Crimson, Tera Melos, Mogwai, Prefuse 73 & Make Believe, LoOmis blends such genres as math rock, post rock, electronic, down tempo & indie rock with lo fi recording techniques. Starting with 2007’s ‘A Momentary Distraction’ LoOmis creates each song from scratch. Usually starting with a drum beat or sample. Later guitars, vocals, melodica and various noises are written or improvised during the time of recording. The most recent full length ‘A Solitary Attraction’ was released in January 2011. A 3 song EP ‘A Dog & His Boy’ was released 2 months later followed by the 'Vellocet' EP in August 2011 and the most recent "Melt Away" EP in January 2012. Loomis, Milwaukee, WI 1991-1997 Loomis was a indie/alt rock band formed in Milwaukee, WI in 1992. The original lineup consisted of Mike Chubbuck, David Kawczynski, Eric Marshall and Scott Schoenbeck. Scott left to concentrate on Alligator Gun in 1993, Rob Wernette replaced him on bass but lasted only a few months to be replaced by Chris Rosenau. This Loomis recorded the record "You're No tiger, Meow, Meow, Meow" for Grass in 1996. There is also a split 7 inch with Compound Red, the "Planes vs. Tanks" 7 inch and the "Bubba Zanetti" 7 inch.
