Living In A Box

Living in a Box were a British pop trio from the 1980s (formed in 1985). The members were Richard Darbyshire (vocals and guitar), Marcus Vere (synths) and Anthony Critchlow (drums). They are perhaps best known for their eponymous debut single, and it is the only single of theirs to have charted in the United States, reaching #17 on the Billboard Chart. In their home country they enjoyed more success, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1987 and a follow-up album, Gatecrashing, in 1989,. In addition to their debut single, they scored a total of five Top 40 hits including Blow The House Down, Room In Your Heart and Scales Of Justice. They were also moderately successful in Germany and France. Artistic differences, as well as changes to their label Chrysalis, caused the band to break up in 1990 before their third LP could be released. Richard Darbyshire went on to pursue a solo career.
