Kulu Kulu Garden are a band from Tokyo, Japan consisting of 宮原琴音 Kotone Miyahara on bass/vocals and 青木竜太郎 Ryotaro Aoki on guitar. While the band seeks a full-time drummer, various drummers from other bands in the Tokyo scene, such as 高橋恭平 Kyohei "Tonjiru" Takahashi of FAR FRANCE, are currently playing support. The term "kulu kulu" means "crazy" and fittingly describes their music as it wavers between serene and outright chaotic. The band formed in 2006. After releasing a string of demos in 2007 and 2008, they released their first EP "Detorake Yuuenchi" in August 2009. To coincide with their release, they held their first event, "SHALL WE (NOT) DANCE?", which featured Thai Kick Murph, Goomi, Owarikara, and Agata (of Melt-Banana). The fact that Kulu Kulu Garden is currently without a full-time drummer has spurred them to experiment with an acoustic (less kulu kulu) set minus a drummer but with the addition of a 2nd guitarist. This set can be heard on the bootleg EP, "Enregistrements Expérimentaux 1: Ô L’hypocrisie!", which consists of acoustic versions of previously released songs. About "Enregistrements Expérimentaux 1: Ô L’hypocrisie!": "Enregistrements Expérimentaux 1: Ô L'hypocrisie!" was an EP we recorded during a brief time when we didn't have a drummer. We decided to rework some old songs into quieter acoustic arrangements. We wanted to do something where the melody was the main focus and the background wasn't exploding all the time. The CD ended up being just vocals and guitar. It is similar in style to the song "Mori No Kumasan" on our debut EP. It was supposed to be the first CD in a series of "experimental recordings" (not "experimental" only in the literal sense, but just recordings that wouldn't fit on an album), only we haven't really followed up on it yet! We're hoping to make another "Enregistrements Expérimentaux" CD some time in the future, although I think it will be quite different from the first one. We only made about 30 CD-R copies of "Ô L'hypocrisie!", and we sold them at live shows for a while last year. - Ryotaro from Kulu Kulu Garden. Read more on Last.fm.
