Growing up in the centre of Manchester, Kotez began to experiment with music production software at the age of fifteen, and quickly began to produce tracks that pricked the ears of many a DJ around the city. A love of the various electronic sounds emanating from the clubs around Manchester at the time and an ear for picking the right music for the right people led to a job manning the counter at Spin Inn Records, where Kotez continued to work until he left the city in the summer of 2007. The opportunity to pursue music production full time at one of the leading universities in the country was too good an offer to turn down, and in September 2007 Kotez made the short trip across the Pennines to set up home in Leeds. Known for it’s non-stop party vibes and hot bed of talent, Kotez was quick to settle in and find himself content amongst many other music lovers. As his productions and DJ sets quickly gained notoriety, regular appearances at The Mint Club and other northern clubs followed, with many of the cities DJ’s dropping his productions to packed out dance floors. Producing genres such as house, techno and progressive under various aliases over the past five years has seen a number of releases rocket up the online record store charts, but the atmospheric dubstep sounds featured in his latest productions are now the sole focus of Kotez’s efforts. His latest studio creations are available now on soundcloud and have already attracted interest from a number of established labels. With his DJ schedule increasing all of the time and a number of releases in the pipeline, Kotez is one to keep a firm eye on over the next twelve months. Read more on Last.fm.
