Kookie Joe is a musician best known for creating the single "The Kookie Limbo" (catalog no.: 846). Kookie Joe's real name and background information are entirely unknown. "The Kookie Limbo" was released by the Nermel Corp. formerly located in 835 E. El Monte San Gabriel, Calif. Information about the Nermel Corp. is mostly unknown, but may be a subsidiary of major toy company Wham-O. as well as "The Kookie Limbo" seems to be the only single the company has ever released. The Nermel Corp. also appears to now be replaced by the San Gabriel Surgery & Florists. The release date of the single is also unknown. "The Kookie Limbo" was released in 45rpm format and also features an instrumental version of the song on the B-side. The single was also included in a limbo set called "Limbo, Under the Bar!" by Wham-O circa 1961. The set included two wooden feet, the single, and some sticks. The record is considered an essential, yet obscure part of the Caribbean limbo fad in the 1960s. "The Kookie Limbo" has also been included in the novelty limbo compilation album, "Jungle Exotica" released by Crypt on March 7, 1997 and re-issued by Strip-Tease. Read more on Last.fm.
