Killamu is a respected and influential kuduro artist from Angola. He has been part of the kuduro scene since 2000, and started producing tracks for Gueto Produções with Mestre Ara in 2002. The duo quickly established their production house as one of the very best in Luanda, collaborating with many of Angola’s most innovative kudurists. As producers, laying tracks for artists such as Puto Prata, Noite e Día and Fofandó & Saborosa, they have paved the way for the next generation of hard-hitting, rhyme-spitting kuduro lyricists. His 2010 album A Minha Face, which has been distributed outside of Angola by Akwaaba Music, shows him exploring sounds beyond kuduro, starting with kizomba (Angolan zouk), but also, and perhaps most importantly for Western audiences, utilizing more instrumental and electronic kuduro beats that one usually finds in Angolan kuduro.
