Born and raised in rural New Brunswick, Canada, Kerstin Wilson started writing and recording music in her bedroom as a teenager. In 2006, she moved to Leeds, England where she met Dan Gelder and joined The Papertiger Sound. In 2007, she returned to the East coast of Canada. She spends most of her time escaping to the country and writing and recording music under the moniker Whale Hum, her new solo project.
