Karate High School is an American experimental rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area of California, fronted by multi-instrumentalist and producer Paul McGuire. On March 21, 2006 the band released their debut album entitled Arcade Rock, a term which alludes to the influence of 8-bit video game music in their sound. Karate High School's second album, The League Of Tomorrow, released on September 4, 2007, further honed the band's layered, keyboard-driven style of alternative rock. On November 11, 2008, Karate High School announced on their myspace blog that they had signed to Eyeball Records. Their third album, Invaders, was released on May 19, 2009. The band played all of the west coast dates in America and Canada on the 2007 Warped Tour on the Ernie Ball Stage. They have toured with bands such as I Set My Friends On Fire, Foxy Shazam, Brokencyde, and The Medic Droid. Due to Paul McGuire's experience at a "haunted hotel" in Belgium, he disbanded Karate High School on July 31, 2010 to study parapsychology. The validity of his claim can be disputed, though, as he had also claimed he was moving to London to study zoology and joining a bizarre (most likely fake) organization called The Spacewalkers Foundation for Extraterrestrial Exploration and the Cirumvention of Planned Obsolescence. In an astounding show of dedication to the creative force behind this band (or an astounding lack of actual interest in it) very few people questioned any of these claims. The last lineup before their demise was: Paul J. McGuire - Vocals, Keyboards, Bass Aaron McVeigh - Drums Billy Ray Valentine - Keyboards Geoff Garnett - Guitars Read more on Last.fm.
