Instant Karma

There are three bands under this name: 1) Started in early 2015, Instant Karma from Devon, England have been eagerly songwriting, shaping and performing their music to the finest detail by creating something that simultaneously owes a debt to the song craftsman of past such as McCartney/Lennon and taking influence from the synthesized sounds of modern electronic music. 2) Instant Karma, an Indian band formed by Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonca and Farhad Wadia most popular for their albums Dance Masti (1996) and its sequels Return of Dance Masti (1999), Dance Masti... Again (2003) and Dance Masti Forever (2006). 3) Instant Karma, a Serbian brit-pop influenced power pop band active in the 90's. Instant Karma employed many talented voices such as Shankar Mahadevan, Shaan, Mahalaxmi Iyer before they made big mainstream Bollywood and other Indian Music Industries. Their debut album `Dance Masti` featured one of the best Hindi film song remakes of the 1990`s, including `Dil Kya Kare`. The reproduction of the songs were brilliant and featured melodious basslines, Enigma-like beats and ambient synths. All in all, the album was a huge success! Like their first album, `Return of Dance Masti` & Dance Masti… Again contains remakes of older Hindi film songs. What makes `Return Of Dance Masti` & Dance Masti…Again dance revival projects rather than a remix albums is that they haven’t added any snatches of techno music. Rather, they have maintained the original integrity of the song. If it`s a slow number, the tempo is maintained rather than pumping up the pace. Using new but well known singers like Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan, Mahalaxmi Iyer and Zubeen Garg assures them that the album will appeal to everybody...be it the rickshawallah or the elite socialite! What the trio were aiming at was a product which would stand out and they feel that they have come up with a winner. Not only has the original flavour of the songs been retained, but some of them have even been given a new life! The album, has a lot of variety, a little something for everyone. Instant Karma are an unlikely trio. Farhad, the ‘Big’ one, both in terms of size and age, is outgoing and outspoken, while Ehsaan and Loy are shy and soft-spoken. But what brings them together is their common passion for music... and that`s the reason for their success. Every bit of the original tune is re-recorded and new riffs are added. The only thing that remains of the old song is the old melody and lyrics. It's like a film within a film, like a song within a song. But 99% of it remains the same. Instant Karma brings evergreens down from a listening environment to a danceable dimension. There are always variations to a song. It's a living, constantly mutating entity. A version gives a new lease of life to the original. 2) The Serbian band (more info to be added soon)... Read more on Last.fm.
