Guardabarranco

The duo Guardabarranco formed by Katia and Salvador Cardenal is one of the references mas important in the new Central American singing. They initiated its career in they natal Nicaragua in the year 1980 They music is called the social and ecological conscience of the human being, representing faithfully they ideal formed ones of its name Guardabarranco that is taken of the National bird of Nicaragua. From they beginnings Katia and Salvador they have represented for Central America one of the offers mas fresh and poetical in the stage of the popular song. The duo recorded its first disc A drink of Horizon, under Luís Enrique's production Mejía Godoy, later they would record a series discs produced by the recognized North American singer who writes his own songs Jackson Browne, with which they led its work to an international level, connecting the voices and guitars perfecting its recognized style. The compositions in the main are a Salvador's work, though Katia takes part in the creation of the texts and melodies in some songs. Both brothers also have realized a successful career as soloists during the last years. Katia, she changes to Norway for a few years, where she was kept very active harvesting successes with her discs as soloist. On its part Salvador publishes her first disc as soloist Tuyo what I Am, again working with Jackson Browne, with whom they achieve a disc full of beautiful songs and of great quality. Though the activities since Duo diminished at the end of the years 90, they resume his(its,her) activities recording a disc in alive(vivacious) One night with Guardabarranco in 2001.
