Grimsoul’s musical journey began in early 1990’s, when he received a second hand Amiga computer with Protracker programme as a present. At first, it felt like a light hearted way to spend time exploring different opportunities to be creative with sound, but slowly, he started to realise that his talent had become more focussed on electronic music. During this time his genre’s were Electro or Techno. At the same time, Grimsoul then struck a chord with his friend Phyton who was absorbed in his favourite genre’s with very popular 90’s music, such as Hardcore and Happyhardcore. Later, when Grimsoul received his first PC and Fasttracker 2 programme, the focus continued and deepened, whereby, he began composing music by himself, thus making dramatic improvements in his compositions. This was because the new programme with new electronic resources played a key role in the development of a deeper understanding of how music could be mixed. During the mid-part of the 1990’s the birth of Trance Music begun, taking it’s first baby steps, and it was throughout these years that Grimsoul learned to compose more melancholic melodies which fit well into the Trance scene. At the beginning of the New Millenium, the journey progressed into heavier melodies, mainly British Hardhouse or Hardtrance music. Grimsoul changed his music making programme into a professional software programme, and because of the deep impression by Carbon Based and Alek Szahala productions, he decided to try Freedom genre, making his songs up to over 160 bpm therefore, changing them into something more heavier. From this, Grimsoul’s classic “Painajainen” or “Nightmare” song was born, and such was the impact of the production on the Finnish clubculture, it received huge recognition and was adapted quickly as a hit, and thus sparked interest from all over the world. At the same time, Grimsoul received an invitation to play live in the Club Fury-party and from here on his musical career exploded and he begun his gigs. In 2005, his song “Jään hautaamat”, in english “Buried by ice”, was published by Camel Records into MP3, at the present time, the label called Electronica Exposed is currently interested in publishing more songs. Grimsoul’s genre nowadays is quite dark, energetic and melodic Finnish Freeform (Finrg), but continues to develop by absorbing new influences from the Drum’n’Bass and Heavy Metal music scene.
