Granville is a French pop band formed in Caen in January 2011 and made up of Mélissa Dubourg (vocals), Sofian El Gharrafi (singer-songwriter, guitar, keyboards), Nathan Bellanger (bass) and Arthur Allizard (drums). Sofiane and Nathan, were earlier in the band Chocolate Donuts. The name is a tribute Granville, Manche in Lower Normandy where all members find attachment. They play mostly 1960s-influenced music decsribed by Le Point as a mix of "Anglo-saxon rock-garage music and melodies of French yéyé revisited". http://granvillegranville.com/ http://granvillegranville.bandcamp.com/ Granville is also an ongoing project of Mike Valenzuela out of San Diego, CA (Valley Center) in the post-rock genre, creating textures and pop melodies to fit the surrounding scenery using a variety of instruments to create as much sound as possible. Granville began when 3 friends were getting into college, and started to bring their instruments to the daily hangout spot. Thus since they have been through drummers, a hiatus, music theory and lineup changes. From drum machines, synthesizers, and ovation guitars, the spark is still strong for making music inspired by forests, skies without light pollution, beaches, and a greener environment. Granville is currently working on a full-length album of material spanning their career, making it all into one cohesive thought and creative style. The most up-to-date recorded demos will always be found on the bandcamp page to download for free.
