Kunga Phuntsok (Chinese spelling "Genga") was born on September 3, 1981 in Derge County, a part of Kham region of Tibet. He started to sing and got his first fans since his school times. In 1999 he graduated the Sichuan Academy of Music where he successfully studied for three years and later with support of two famous singers - Ya Dong and Kungche Tashi Kunga became the apprentice teacher in Dartsedo Music School. In late 2008 Kunga set up his own record company in Chengdu. He is the winner of Tibetan Music Awards 2007 for Best Male Singer and Best Song "Yi Re Kyo" and one of the most popular singers in Tibet.
