Fred Durst is the lead singer for the band Limp Bizkit. Durst was born in Jacksonville Florida where he grew up with his mother and step-dad - a local police officer. Durst joined the Navy at the early stage of his life where he found it difficult to cope with the rules there. He left the Navy to become a tatoo artist where he slummed life until he met KoRn who were on tour at the time. Durst persuaded them to give them a tatoo in a desperate attempt to get to know the band. Durst had been going around to local gigs around Jacksonville where he was looking to recruit band members to "manage". He spoke to Sam Rivers (bassist) who agreed to join Durst and proposed that Rivers' cousin John Otto (drummer) would join to. Durst jumped to the idea and eventually formed "limp bizkit". They could not find a singer so Fred had became the singer of the band unintentionally. With Durst now friends with KoRn he gave Ross Robinson - KoRn's producer, a demo tape which he loved. Durst began his dream of being a rockstar. Life in the spotlight hasn't been easy for Durst and has had many rivalries with Eminem, Trent Reznor and a failed "relationship" with Britney Spears. However now with the band being on a hiatus, Durst is also pursuing his dream of being a film director with a few projects in the pipeline. Read more on Last.fm.
