The Fractions outfit is comprised of 5 Brisbane-based lads who have set out to create a new trend of atmospheric "rock-tronica". The boys hail from the country origins of Rockhampton and Tenterfield which has contributed to the grittier rock elements of their music. The self-titled EP released in early 2010 is an eclectic mix of catchy rock and upbeat electronica, hence, "rock-tronica". Their must-see gigs and steadily growing fan-base is an indication of the great music to come. Fractions is a dedicated and passionate band with an insatiable appetite for mixing their cocktail tunes of organic rock and electronica which really get the crowd moving. Haunting vocals by lead singer Tim Bateman mixed with the hypnotic compositions of Hamish Camilleri on keys and synth and Adam Smith's gritty electric guitar work, is complimented by the passionate drum and base combination of Jolen and Faron Camilleri. But not everybody digs their style. The boys have recently copped some flack from street press critics about their fashion savvy dress sense and styled hair, however, the Fractions outfit maintains it is not ashamed to be fashion-forward and their hair products have certainly not affected the quality of their music. To those critics who try to demean their sense of style, the boys have only two words to say: Ben Sherman. Great gigs, catchy tunes and aesthetically pleasing style-conscious musicians, gives this band its must-see status for 2010. These boys don't take themselves too seriously and know how to show their fans a good time - be sure to check them out as they won't disappoint. Read more on Last.fm.
