There are two artists with this name; a Belgian electronic artist and an alternative rock band formerly known as Fractional Importance. 1) Belgium-based Fractional describes his music as “Gothic Erotica“, a dark and brooding Electronica with a strong Jungle aftertaste. Fractional literally vomits his brokenbeats and tortures them into submission, waxing them with various bleeps and crackles, smearing almost mystical pads on their bruised bodies. 2) Fractional is an L.A. based rock band that formed in 1997. They released 3 albums under the name Fractional Importance - 'Indecision', 'Apathy' and their 2001 release 'Visions' which helped to solidify the band's regional popularity while also raising the band's awareness on a more national level; opening for such acts as Papa Roach, System of Down and Far. After extensive DIY touring throughout the western portion of the U.S. in support of 'Visions', the band shortened their name to Fractional and recorded a series of demos and EP's with various notable producers such as Don Kazarinoff, Roger Sommers and John Travis. They temporarily added Zack Lopez on second guitar to fatten up the live sound in 2004 who recorded on their last EP 'A Love Letter Suicide'. By this time Fractional began receiving airplay on various college and commercial radio stations nationwide and toured with Smile Empty Soul, Seether and Crossfade. After over 7 years, 5 albums and almost 1000 shows, Fractional decided to call it quits and go their separate ways in the pursuit of other projects. Douglas Gledhill plays in a band with his brother called 'Un:armed' and Nate Perry played in the band Manic who released two EP's on Suretone/Interscope Records. Kevin is making a fortune designing websites. People keep asking when there will be a Fractional reunion show, to which Fractional can only reply, 'wait and see.' Read more on Last.fm.
