There are at least 2 bands called Five Year Mission: 1. A mid 80s punk band from Australia/New Zealand who released a 7" single called "U.F.O b/w Seeds of Doom" and a split 7" with Armatrak. 2. Five Year Mission is the current (2010) collaboration of five Star Trek fans from Indianapolis, Indiana who endeavor to write and record a song interpreting each of the episodes of the original Star Trek series from the 1960s. Visit their official site: www.fiveyearmission.net The lineup cosists of: Noah Butler from Eisenhower Field Day and The Killbot Factory (Guitar/Bass/Keys/Vocals/Songwriter), Andy Fark from The Jabs (Percussion), Patrick O’Connor from The Shake-Ups (Guitar/Bass/Keys/Vocals/Songwriter), Mike Rittenhouse from Little Voice (Guitar/Bass/Keys/Vocals/Songwriter), Chris Spurgin from Rebuilt (Guitar/Bass/Keys/Vocals/Songwriter). What they do: They write and play songs. Specifically, they take episodes of the original Star Trek and write songs for them. Sometimes the songs tell stories, sometimes they’re about one character, and sometimes they’re totally obscure. They never quite know what’s going to happen with a tune until they write it. The Mission: 5YM's goal is to take every episode of the original Star Trek, write a song about it, record it, and play it. In the end, there will be five full-length CDs full of Star Trek goodness for all to enjoy. Support the mission, and of course, live long and prosper! Read more on Last.fm.
