Emma is the epitome of the classic singer / songwriter: talented, versatile and totally committed to her craft. Busy carving a career for herself as a songwriter and composer of music for TV it wasn’t until she was confronted by a label manager of one of the majors that Emma considered the idea of pursuing things as a solo artist. She explains: “One day I was in a meeting up at SONY discussing potential songs for use with one of their artists. I played a bunch of tracks on CD and then sat and played some more on the piano. As soon as I stopped playing, the label manager asked why I wasn’t positioning myself as an artist? This really got me thinking and set me on the road of making my own record.” Emma comes from ‘good stock’ having been managed for a number of years by Paul Loasby who also looks after Jools Holland and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. It was the former who offered Emma the use of his studio to hide away with her friends (who also happen to be incredibly talented musicians!) and start work on making a record! Emma teamed up with the incredibly talented Norwegian producer and arranger Aril Schoeld and spent the following months traveling between London and the beautiful city of Stavanger on the west coast of Norway, to shape the songs and record the CD. The result is ‘GLIMMER’ a fantastic collection of songs about life, love and loss. Emma has drawn on her classical grounding, academic background and vast musical experience to shape songs that reel in the listener. We’re not sure exactly what it is, but the concoction of great musicians playing live combined with beautiful hooky melodies, stunning orchestrations and crafted lyrics mean this record is something special.
