There are three groups with the name Electric Mud: 1. The german post-progressive rock band Electric Mud: Where other bands disguise their lack of inspiration and originality with virtuosity and never ending guitar solos, Electric Mud give you wonderful stoner riffs and rich melodies. Hagen Bretschneider (idea, sound concept, bass) and Lennart Hüper (rhythm guitar) have always focussed on instrumental compositions. They have concentrated on their own material, producing their first album "Dead Cat on a Railroad Track" in 2013. This work was a production using only guitars, bass and drum machine. Following their success they decided to develop their music together resulting in "Lunatic Asylum" released in 2015. Hagen and Lennart were joined by Nico Walser, who produced Lunatic Asylum as well as playing lead guitar and synthesizers. This collaboration blossomed further on their third album "Wrong Planet" featuring producer and guest musician Nico Walser again. The compositions on the first album were largely rooted in blues rock, however on Wrong Planet their music can sound like Sabbath or Zeppelin from the 70s but they combine these licks with dynamic patches from the drum machine of the 80s. The Hannover duo's style is steeped in ambiant music interspersed with melodic guitar riffs. These arrangements are sometimes inspired by the Icelandic band Sigur Ros, especially by their use of a violin bow played on the guitar, and the guitar solos would not sound out of place on a Camel or Pink Floyd album. 2. A mysterious early Krautrock band, of whom we know nothing historically. And, despite a most odd name, Electric Mud were quite extraordinary, radical, dark and intensely psychedelic. Strongly Teutonic, with German lyrics, stylistically akin to Eulenspygel, Drosselbart, or early Tomorrow's Gift, with a gloomy atmosphere, lots of organ, heavy guitars and riffing. An obscure classic for fans of psychedelic Krautrock sounds. "The Crack In The Cosmic Egg" 3. The american RocknRoll band Electric Mud: Two brothers started out from NYC, left for sunny San Diego and the Navy. Thats where they met Colton Cori. Jamming turned into a full-time band and Cousin Matt Sorena moved out from the east coast to join up with the boys. Now with Cousin Matt on bass, Colton Cori on guitar, Matty on drums and Marc on guitar and vocals, Electric Mud is starting out with their own sound influenced heavily by the old rocknroll bands of the 60s and 70s.
