Dubok began in 1998 by mutual friends in search of something more than the ordinary. In the fall of 1999, after only a handful of shows and demos, they were signed by Tinman Records. This new relationship would support the unveiling of an outfit that would soon change the rules of the industrial / dark music scene as they knew it. Dubok's debut was released in June of 2000. "Immersed" was a compilation of demo, and some new material recorded over a 2 year period. It recieved positive press and good sales, however, a series of shows promoting "immersed" led to the beginnings of what would be one of the best albums of 2002. A drastic change from "Immersed", the "Clear Vision" single saw a new and more defined sound for Dubok, and in June of 2002, "technicolor" was released. With hits like "Lowboy" and "Dense" leading the way, this album topped many charts. "Technicolor" is one of those albums that comes out so rarely that it changes the rules of the bidness. Dubok not only avoided the Sophomore slump, they proved to the world that there may be a bit of originallity left in music after all. December 2003 brings the single for "Dense". On this single, many brilliant artists shed new light on one of the best electronic songs to be produced in some time. Throw in Dubok's version of duran duran's "rio", and you start to get the feel of how dubok came to be. Summer 2004 will bring the release of dubok's 3rd album, "Shiver". Initial review suggests a new level of greatness for dubok, as they again face new directions for inspriration. There aren't many bands today that blend a great feel for songwriting and original ideas, but Dubok does so effortlessly. You wont want to miss the release of "shiver" in 2004, as it promises to be one of the finest electronic pop albums to be released in a decade. Read more on Last.fm.
