Damir Imamović Trio works together since the beggining of 2006 and represents Damir's effort to expand what he did while performing alone with the guitar. Ideal musicians for this expansion he found in Edvin Hadžić (double bass) and Vanja Radoja (violin). Apart from fluency in sevdah and other musical genres this trio is characteristic for their readyness to open their ears and play everything they know. The Trio plays so salled fusion sevdah or sevdah open to the influences of other types of music. Alongside Damir's traditional vocal and an acoustic guitar which «dances» between worlds of music, generally unortodox roles of the double bass and violin become even more distinct. This minimalist group is constantly open to improvisation and gives sevdah a totally different character from the one we are used to. Actually, it brings it back to, as Damir himself puts it, «its source which is improvisational». What becomes of this mixture of traditional and inovative is not sevdah that lately became closer to the wedding music, bu chamber music which engages its listener in a way jazz does. The first DI3 CD under the title «Damir Imamović Trio Plays Standards» is published by buybook in summer 2006. http://www.damirimamovic.com Read more on Last.fm.
